Three stages that are easy to confuse
Tracing investigates where water is escaping. Access reaches the relevant concealed plumbing, sometimes by opening a floor, wall or external surface. Repair addresses the plumbing fault itself. Restoring the surrounding finish is another stage. Ask which of these is included whenever you compare a service.
What the report contributes
A report records the relevant investigation, findings and work so that someone who was not at the property can understand the instruction. Photographs may support the explanation. It is helpful to tell the engineer about any requested reporting format before work is booked.
What to ask your insurer
Confirm whether prior approval is needed, what evidence is required and how your policy treats investigation, access, pipe repair and reinstatement. Policy wording and decisions vary. Exact Source supplies the agreed report; it does not decide cover or promise that you will recover the cost.
